Food trucks became a reality in the City of Dickson on March 21 of this year.

Ande Truman, the Mulberry Mill Property, Sales, and Events Manager, wanted to facilitate a celebration of a hard-fought, hard-won victory for culinary free enterprise, so she helped to sponsor the city’s first Food Truck Friday. With a turnout of over 1,500 people, Truman now hopes to keep the party going.

Mulberry Mill, along with its tenant The Station Venue, will be launching Fall Food Truck Fridays in September. Besides food trucks, the events will feature vendors, games and live music.

Fall Food Truck Fridays come along with the upcoming opening of Mulberry Mill’s 500-square foot “beta test” kitchen, which Truman says the company hopes to have up and running by October. Truman says the rental kitchen can be of service not only to food trucks, but catering companies and small businesses in need of a commercial kitchen.

Given the long road food truck owners traveled to be able to ply their trade within the city limits, Truman believes events like this will give this new local market the boost it needs.

“It’s important for us to support all small businesses, whether it’s a food truck or a sit-down restaurant. These businesses help to make Dickson become a better place to live. Many people like to support food trucks because it’s nice to have a change of scenery and options. These food truck owners are hard-working, salt-of-the-earth folks with a passion for food! It’s fun to feel that sense of urgency when you see a new food truck, because it won’t be around again for another month or more,” Truman said.

Food Truck Fridays is still in need of entertainment, sponsors, and vendors. Truman says sponsorships help pay for staffing and marketing which will enable them to keep the event going in 2023.
